H.L. Peterson Died Friday

Harold L. Peterson, 43, former resident of the Stanhope community, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the St. Francis hospital in Grand Island, Neb., where he had undergone surgery Thursday.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the South Marion Methodist church near Stratford with the Rev. D.L. Draper officiating. Burial will be made in South Marion cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 12 o'clock noon Sunday when it will be taken to the church.

Harold L. Peterson, son of Embert and Anna [Isaacson] Peterson, was born Aug. 3, 1917 on a farm south of Stanhope. He attended the Stanhope schools and grew to young manhood in that community.

He was united in marriage Dec. 24, 1938, to Gladys Fairchilds, and the couple resided on the Peterson home farm for a number of years. They then moved to Algona. For the past several years, Mr. Peterson had been employed at Grand Island, Neb.

He is survived by two daughters and one son, Mrs. Edward (Doris) Macek, Carroll, Mrs. Jack (Sharon) Gordon, Boone and Gary Peterson, Dayton, Iowa; four grandchildren; one brother, C.A. Peterson of Kansas City, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
