FUNERAL MRS. HENRY OLSON AT STRATFORD

She Was Born in Sweden and Moved With Parents to Stratford Vicinity in 1855

Stratford, June 30 - Funeral services for the late Mrs. Henry Olson were held Tuesday afternoon, her pastor, the Rev. Anton Chell, being in charge. A short prayer service was held at the home at 1:30 o'clock, a duet also being sung by Mrs. Martin Hall and Mrs. Chell, "One Sweetly Solemn Thought." At 2:00 o'clock services were held from the church, the pastor using for his sermon text, Job 19:25.

A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Coy Smith, Miss Hazel Barquist, Alfred Erickson and Axel Sandegren sang, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Fade, Fade Each Earthly Joy. A Swedish solo was sung by Mrs. Anton Chell, "We Shall Sleep But Not Forever." The Rev. Birger Dahl of the South Marion Church sang a solo, "The Last Mile" and also made a few remarks.

The pallbearers were Peter Leksell, Sam Swedlund, Henry Peterson, Swen Shaeffer, Eleck Swedlund and Alfred Rone. Interment was made in the South Marion Cemetery.

Born in Sweden

Mrs. Henry Olson, nee, Anna Hanson died Saturday afternoon, June 24, 1933 at her home in Stratford at the age of 90 years and 10 days. She was born at Jarbo, Gastrikland, Sweden, June 14, 1843. In the year 1855 she came to this country with her parents, who first made their home at Kewanee, Illinois. In 1865 they moved to Stratford, Iowa, making their home on a farm a few miles south of town.

She was united in marriage to Henry Olson, February 7, 1868 and their union was blessed with seven children. Her husband and four children have preceded her in death.

Three Children Left

To mourn her departure the deceased leaves three children, Miss Viola Olson, Mrs. E.W. Monson and Fred E. Olson, all of whom are living in the immediate locality of Stratford. She also leaves to mourn, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

Deceased was a member of the local Lutheran church and before enfeebled by old age attended very faithfully. She always enjoyed and looked forward to the visits of her pastor and through them revealed beatifully to her near and dear ones the joy and strength she received from the Word and Sacraments. Though not able to attend church the last years of her high age, her memory has been cherished highly by her church.
