Funeral services for Mrs. Glen (Esther) Brick, 83, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster Funeral home with Don Basye officiating. Burial will be made in Graceland cemetery.

The casket will remain closed but friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.

Mrs. Brick, a longtime Webster City school teacher, died early Wednesday morning at the Hamilton County Hospital where she had been a patient the past week. She had been in ill health the past two years.

Esther Gladys Leech, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Leech, was born Sept. 6, 1901 at Parsons, Kan. The family moved to New Franklin, Mo., where she was reared and educated.

She attended the University of Missouri where she received her B.A. and Master's degrees. She taught schools at Higby, Hopkins, Adrian and Trenton, Mo.

She was united in marriage July 21, 1935 at Sedalia, Mo. to Glen Everette Brick, and the couple resided in Chillicothe, Mo., following which they moved to Chicago, residing there for 12 years. The family then moved to Cedar Rapids where they lived for two years before moving to Independence. In 1954, the family moved to Webster City where Mr. Brick engaged in the insurance business. Mrs. Brick taught in the Webster City junior high school until her retirement in the spring of 1968.

She was preceded in death by her husband in September, 1968. She had resided the past two years at Crestview Manor.

She is survived by one son, Rod Brick of Oakton, Va.; four grandchildren, Rod Brick, Jr., Dana, Matthew and Jeffrey, all of Oakton; two brothers and three sisters, Dr. Charles Leech, II, Columbia, Mo., Dr. Maurice Leech, Fayette, Mo., Verna Leech, Carrollton, Mo., Flossie Staubli, Sedalia, Mo., and Mrs. Rolland (Bernice) Mead of Green Valley, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Glen E. Brick, Jr., her parents and one sister.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Heart Fund.
