SAM MONSON PASSES AWAY AT CHEROKEE AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Sam Monson died very suddenly at Cherokee Monday night, death being due to rheumatic and nervous troubles. About two years ago he suffered a nervous breakdown and was taken to Dr. Hills sanitarium at Des Moines for treatment. He remained there until about two weeks ago when he was taken to the state hospital at Cherokee for treatment. His condition, however, grew worse until he passed away. He was a highly respected resident of this place and was about fifty years old.

OBITUARY
Monson

Samuel Monson was born in the Swede Bend community on Sept. 3, 1873, and died at Cherokee, June 19, 1922, at the age of 48 years, 9 months, 16 days.

Death came following a nervous breakdown and rheumatic trouble that commenced two years ago. Since his first illness he has been continually under a doctor's care and about two weeks before his death was taken to the state hospital at Cherokee for further treatment but his weakened condition made it impossible for him to gain strength.

With the exception of a trip to Sweden, deceased had always made his home in this community. Here he was one of the highly respected men of the vicinity and his death brought real sadness to friends here.

He leaves to mourn his passing, two brothers, John Monson and Leonard Monson of this place, and one sister, Mrs. Emma Olson, of Kearney, Nebr.

The remains were brought here by brothers and funeral services wre held from the Baptist church Thursday afternoon in charge of Rev. C.G. Bengtson. The remains were placed in the South Marion cemetery.
