Obituary
Lundquist

Mrs. Johanna Lundquist was born in Voxna forsamling, Ovanåker, Sweden on October 13, 1846 and passed away at the family residence here Saturday, May 4, 1918 aged 71 years, 6 months, 21 days. She was baptized and confirmed in Sweden. Early in the year 1871 she came to America locating in this county. On October 24, 1871 she was united in marriage to Jonas Lundquist at Webster City and together they made a home in this community southeast of Stratford. They lived on a farm until a few years ago when they moved into Stratford.

Their marriage was blessed with eight children - three sons and five daughters. They are: Mrs. Mathilda (A.R.) Thompson, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Emma (William) Skagerberg, Bricelyn, Minn.; Mrs. Selma (John) Textrum, Ames; Mrs. Minnie (G.) Carlson, Minneapolis, Minn.; Gottfred, Theodore, Victor and Miss Hulda Lundquist of Stratford. These together with her husband, sixteen grandchildren and a large number of lifelong friends mourn the passing of a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She was received into membership of the local Lutheran church in 1889.

Deceased has been sick for several years and has suffered much. But her illness, no doubt, brought her more and more in contact with the Great Physician. He heard and heeded the prayers of her heart, and even as her outer being was decaying, strengthened her spiritual life and her reliance on Himself. He Who bore the sins of the world and died that we might have life through faith in His name. Her children say "We shall never forget mother's beautiful deathbed!" She gave testimony again and again of the peace in her soul. With the light, which is not of earth on her face, and unspeakable joy in her voice, she said, "I see the kingdom of glory." "I see Jesus!" She also said, "We meet again!" As we believe that she, for the Saviors sake has gone home, may we remember that we are but strangers and pilgrims here and earnestly endeavor to walk in the way - the only way that leads to harmony and home.

The funeral services over the remains were held from the Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and were in charge of the pastor, Rev. C.A. Callerstrom. Interment was made in the South Marion cemetery.

Card of Thanks.
We wish to herewith extend our heartfelt thanks to the many kind friends and neighbors for the assistance given us during the last illness and death of our beloved wife and mother. Also for the beautiful floral offerings. May God bless you all. JONAS LUNDQUIST AND FAMILY.
