Obituary
Lund

Spencer A. Lund was born near Stratford in Marion township, December 5, 1879 and died September 16, 1908, at the age of 28 years, 9 months, and 9 days. He leaves to mourn his taking away, father and mother, three brothers, one sister, four nephews, 3 nieces, and a host of close relatives and friends.

Deceased was an industrious young farmer, in good circumstances and bore the highest reputation in our community. He was a young man of high ideals, good character and numbered his friends by the score. To him the struggles and sorrows of earth are ended, and we confidently trust that like one who awakes from a troubled dream he has awakened to see life's endless morn breaks and knows himself at home with all the vast throng of loved ones, missed from earth, safe about him. His home instincts were strong and his affection for friends and kindred was tender and abiding. To the bereaved relatives who sit on sorrow where his foot steps shall never again echo, we extend our heartfelt sympathy, and may the peace that passeth all understanding come to them from one who cares for each little sparrow that falls.

The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the residence conducted by Rev. C.G. Bengston, pastor of the Baptist church, of which church deceased was a member. The floral offerings were beautiful and consisted of an ivy wreath clustered with flowers as a gift from the Masonic lodge. At the close of the solemn service all were permitted to look for the last time upon the face of the departed; then the sad cortege moved on to the South Marion cemetery, where the remains were interred.

[son of Nels & Caroline Johnson Lund]
