OBITUARY

Oscar Lund

Oscar Lund, son of Nels J. Lund and Carolina Sophia [Johnson] Lund, was born near Stratford, Iowa, Nov. 23, 1867. He was found dead on his farm near Brush, Colo., Friday afternoon, Feb. 9, 1933, death likely having taken place some two days before.

He grew to manhood on his parents farm which was located in the center of Marion township of this county and remained a resident of this neighborhood until about the year 1916 when he moved to a ranch near Alliance, Neb. There he remained for a number of years and then moved near Brush, Colo., where he lived until his death.

He was never married but leaves to mourn his death two brothers, David Lund of Stratford, and Frank Lund, of Webster City; three nephews, Lorandus Lund, of Stratford; Herbert and Stewart Lund, of Webster City, two nieces, Gertrude Lund of Stratford and Mrs. Merritt, of Webster City; and the following cousins: Hannah Peterson, of Ontario; Taylor Lund and Albert Lund of Laurens; Emma Barnes and Leonard Lund, of Des Moines, and Gilbert Lund.

Funeral services were held from the Baptist church at Stratford Tuesday, Feb. 14 with the Rev. A.E. Applequist in charge.

He was laid to rest in the South Marion cemetery beside his mother and father and the following brothers and sisters who have gone before: Anna Peterson, Minnie Lund, Spencer Lund, William Lund and Alice Lund.

The Misses Ann Lindblom and Vernice Johnson sang the following songs with Mrs. Everett Bergman accompanying them at the piano: "Sweet Bye and Bye," Nearer, Still Nearer" and "The City Four Square."
