Life Sketch

John Frithiof Lundberg was born in Sweden on June 24, 1862. His boyhood and youth were spent in his native land. At the age of 18 he came to the United States and found employment with the Pullman company at Pullman, Illinois.

In Pullman he became acquainted with Miss Alma Louise Stromert, who was a native of his home community in Sweden. They were married on April 26, 1884. They made their home in Pullman except for a period of four years which they spent in Sweden some time after their marriage.

Three children were born to them, Lillian Alma, Aina Gertrude and Gustaf Edward, who died in infancy. The father continued in the employ of Pullman company, becoming an expert in the Maintaining of the steel hammers used in car construction. He received his service pin for length and faithfulness of service and retired from active labor after 40 years.

Moved to Boone

Mr. and Mrs. Lundberg came to Boone, Iowa, in 1928, to live, deeming it a more desirable place to spend their declining years. Here death overtook him after several months of ill health, on September 15, 1934. He was 72 years, 2 months and 15 days of age.

He leaves to mourn his passing the bereaved wife and two daughters, Mrs. John Oliver Linn of Boone and Mrs. John E. Simmons of Chicago, and one granddaughter, Dorothea Linn of Boone.

Mr. Lundberg was taught and confirmed in the Lutheran Church of Sweden. After coming to America he became a member of the Masonic fraternity to which he was exceedingly loyal and devoted. His membership was in the Palace Lodge, of Pullman. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias.
