Obituary

Alfred E. Jones

Alfred E. Jones, former well known resident of the community south of Stratford and a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Olof Jones, died in his home in Ames, Dec. 25, following an operation for stomach ulcers.

Funeral services were held there Tuesday, Dec. 28, in the Lutheran church and following the services the remains were brought to the South Marion Cemetery where a short burial service was held.

Alfred Jones moved from this community to Boone and then to Madrid where he operated an automobile and garage building and erected a building which is now the home of the Madrid Motor Co. After disposing of his interests at Madrid he moved to Ames where he had since resided.

He was born on the Jones farm, southeast of Statford, Feb. 7, 1874, and was 63 years old at his death. On March 9, 1912, he was united in marriage to Caroline Berquist in Jamestown, N.Y. Surviving him is his wife and one son, Clarence, of Ames. Also surviving are two brothers, Arthur, of Marquette, Neb., and Albert, of Stratford; two sisters, Mrs. Victor Nostrom, of Boone, and Mrs. Leslie Johnson, of Stratford.

[according to his wife's obituary her maiden name should be spelled Bergquist]
