ALBERT OLIVER JONES

Funeral services for Albert Oliver Jones were held Wednesday, May 1, 1963 with a prayer service at the Welin Memorial Chapel, Boone, Iowa at 11 a.m. followed by services at the South Marion Methodist Church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Marden Williams officiating. Mrs. Verlyn Fry and Mrs. Norman Erickson sang a vocal duet, "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say," accompanied by Mrs. Severt Crim. Mrs. Crim also played an organ meditation, "God Leads His Dear Children Along."

Pallbearers were: Verlyn Fry, Floyd Swedlund, Rudy Andrews, Floyd Erickson, Halbert Crim and Severt Crim. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Monson and Mr. and Mrs. John Knuth were in charge of flowers.

Burial was at the South Marion Cemetery.

Albert Oliver Jones, son of Olaf and Martha Jones, was born on a farm near Stratford on November 5, 1878 and died following a short illness on April 28, 1963 at the Boone County Hospital, Boone, Iowa.

He had lived and farmed in the Stratford area all his life with the exception of twelve years - 1924 to 1936 - when he operated a garage in Madrid.

He was united in marriage to Florence Johnson at Stratford on August 24, 1939 and to this union three daughters were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Alfred and Arthur.

Survivors include his widow, Florence; three daughters, Dorothy and Helen, students at Iowa State University, and LaVonne, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Nostrom, Boone and Mrs. Alice Johnson, Stratford; seven nephews and six nieces, other relatives and a host of friends.
