ELLA JOHNSON DIED IN CITY

Rites Friday for Stanhope Woman.

Miss Ella Johnson, 81, resident of the Stanhope community for many years, died about 6 p.m., Tuesday, at the Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient since Monday evening. Her death followed a stroke of apoplexy. She had been in failing health for the past few months.

Services will be held at 2:30, Friday at the Stanhope Methodist church, preceded by a brief service at 2 p.m., at the home of her brother, Fred Johnson, two miles southwest of Stanhope. The Rev. Paul Williams will officiate, and Foster's will be in charge. Burial will be in South Marion cemetery.

The daughter of John and Hanna [Olsdotter] Johnson was born March 9, 1865, in Sweden. At the age of three she came with her parents to the United States. They located at Moline, Ill., where they resided for several years, then moving to a farm near Stanhope. She was educated in the rural schools near Stanhope.

For several years she was employed in Boone, where she was a member of the Free Mission church. She later made her home with her brother, Charlie Johnson, four miles southwest of Stanhope, until December 1945, when she went to live with another brother, Fred Johnson.

Besides her two brothers, she is survived by one sister, Tillie Johnson of Stanhope. Miss Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.
