Johnson

Mrs. C.A. Johnson passed away at her home near Stratford, Tuesday, January 4, 1910, at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 21 days.

Johanna Sophia Gustafson was born in Epplerum, Horn socken, Sweden, July 13, 1833. She was confirmed in the Lutheran church and was married in Sweden to Carl August Johnson in April, 1857. They came to America the same year, locating at Moline, Ill. Ten years later they came to Iowa, settling in Hamilton county, where she resided until her death. Eight children were born to this union - six daughters and two sons - four daughters and one son having preceded her to the land beyond. She was a kind and loving mother an an earnest christian. On May 19, 1908, she was called upon to mourn the death of her husband.

Funeral services were held at the residence Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Kron of the Dayton Lutheran church, and the remains interred in the South Marion cemetery.

Two daughters - Mrs. C.A. Ristrim and Miss Lou Johnson - on son - Len Johnson - and four grand children, besides relatives and a host of friends are left to mourn her departure.
