Joan Walterman, age 69, of Chicago, IL., a former Williams, Webster City and Sioux City, Iowa, resident, died Dec. 17, 2001 at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. She was cremated with memorial services pending at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago, IL.

Joan Walterman, daughter of Jerry and Bernhardine Walterman, was born Feb. 2, 1932 in Kamrar, Iowa. She graduated from Williams High School in 1949 and received a nursing degree from Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1952. She graduated from court reporting school in Minnesota in 1959, working and receiving a degree from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa, until 1979 upon receiving a masters degree in gerontology and sociology from the University of Chicago.

Joan is survived by her twin sister, Jean Walterman, Chicago, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jeannette Olson and brother Joe Walterman.

She was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago.
