Faye Elizabeth Greens was the third of three children born to Edna and Milton Wensel in State Center, Iowa, February 26, 1919. She passed away December 17, 2001 in Springfield, Missouri.

A graduate of Webster City, Iowa High School and Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education and a Masters degree from UCLA, Faye began her teaching career in Ottumwa and Grinnell College, Iowa. Then to San Bernardino College in CA. Completing her teaching career in the Los Angeles school system, Faye retired in 1985.

Faye was an avid sportswoman winning the Championship Golf Tournament at Penmar Country Club, ten years in a row.

Faye is survived by her three nieces, Connie Jo Kimler and husband Jim, Deanna Ray Beezley and husband Bill, Rhina Griffel and husband Gene, two nephews, John Douglas Wensel and wife Carole, Jordan Holtz and wife Lois, six great nieces and ten great nephews, thirteen great-great nieces and fifteen great-great nephews and one great-great-great nephew, two sisters-in-law, Madella Wensel Caughran and Jeanne Holtz. Special friends Joanna and Dave McNeil and Margaret (Boie) Swanson.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, brother Arthur T. Wensel, sister Gertrude E. Emmert. Philip Greens, her husband, passed away in 1996. Faye and Phil are together again in the National Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.

A memorial graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Springfield National Cemetery under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, Springfield.
