Virginia Glee Johnson, 81, Stratford, a former Webster City resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999 at the Stratford Care Center. Mrs. Johnson was cremated and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. John Grebner officiating. The ashes will be buried in the Graceland Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Virginia Glee Smith, daughter of Ivan and Gladys Hurd Smith, was born Jan. 4, 1918 at Williams. She graduated from Williams High School. On Dec. 17, 1935 she married James R. Johnson. The couple farmed south of Blairsburg, then owned and operated a Standard Service Station at Blairsburg. She had also been employed at the National Chiropractic Association and Fleeks Hardware, both in Webster City. Mr. Johnson died April 20, 1990.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Darrell and Kay Johnson of Webster City, grandchildren, Debra Nelson, Brad Johnson, Randy and Vicky Traver, seven great-grandchildren; brothers Francis Smith of Webster City, Charles Smith of Las Vegas, NV., and Duane Smith of Iowa Falls; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lyle Smith, and sisters Hazel Wilson and Zella Fleming.
