James H. Seamands, 70, Lincoln, NE., a former Webster City resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln. He was cremated and a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Lincoln with Rev. Maurice Pierce officiating. On Feb. 13, 1999, a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City. Inurnment will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.

James Howard Seamands, son of Arthur and Lucile Rhoer Seamands, was born August 13, 1928 in Webster City. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1946 and on Dec. 11, 1953, he married Sheila Winona McIntire at Webster City. He was employed with the Illinois Central Railroad as telegrapher, then as a bookkeeper for the Webster City Lumber Company, then traveled with Mid-Continent Builders Supply. He started with the Peed Corporation and moved with the company in 1985 to Lincoln. The company is now called Sandhills Publishing.

Survivors are his wife, Sheila, daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and David Luiken, Ankeny, Kristine and Jerold Whalen of Altoona, Jacque and Royce Brothers, Rosebud, AR., grandchildren, Chad and Jessica Severe, Stephen and Jennifer Whalen, Lynne Coyne and Lisa Messelheiser, great-granddaughter, Berkeley Coyne; sister Mary Lou Doolittle, Webster City; brothers Robert Seamands of Chesterfield, MO., and Roger Seamands of Cedar Rapids, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

He was a former member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, the I Club, former Elk and Moose member and a member of the Musicians Union.
