FORMER RESIDENT DIED SATURDAY IN HIS HOME AT ALGONA

C.O. Isaacson, age 87, passed away Saturday evening in his home at Algona, Iowa. He suffered a stroke on the preceding Tuesday, from which he never fully recovered.

Mr. Isaacson was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, who died in infancy and one daughter.

He is survived by his wife two sons and two daughters, grandchildren and other relatives.

Mr. Isaacson was at one time a resident of this community, and before moving to Algona, resided in Boone for quite a number of years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, with a prayer service in the chapel at Algona at 10 o'clock, and at the South Marion Methodist church at 2 o'clock p.m., conducted by the pastor, the Rev. A.G. Heddle. Interment was made in the South Marion cemetery.

Carl Oscar Isaacson was born in Ingatorp, Småland, Sweden, August 22, 1862, and passed away in his home at Algona after five days of illness at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 22 days.

Mr. Isaacson came to America in 1887 where he was married to Emma Louise Forsberg. They made their home at Chicago, Ill., for a while and then moved to a farm southeast of Stratford, where they resided until 1925. While residing there they joined the South Marion Methodist church and were active lifelong members. He was one of the early pioneers of Hamilton county. He and his wife retired from the farm in 1925, moving to Boone where they made their home until May, 1949, when they moved to Algona, Iowa, to be near their daughters.

Those remaining to mourn his death are his wife, two sons, Arthur of Stratford and Wallace of Boone; two daughters, Mrs. Otto Westling of Algona and Mrs. Justin Anderson of Lone Rock. Also seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, who died in infancy, and one daughter, Anna, who passed away in April, 1942.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 18, with a brief prayer service at Algona at 10 o'clock a.m., and in the South Marion Methodist church of Stratford at 2 o'clock p.m. The Rev. A.G. Heddle, pastor of the church officiated at the services assisted by the Rev. Mr. Kingma, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Lone Rock, Iowa. Songs for the services were sung by Mrs. W.R. Holstrom and Mrs. Roy Bergquist. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Edgar Crim and Mrs. Merrill Monson.

A large number of relatives and friends from a distance attended the funeral services.

Following the services the remains were escorted to the South Marion cemetery for interment. The pallbearers were Dale Isaacson, Warren Isaacson, Raymond Westling, Arlin Peterson, Weldon Swedlund and Robert Swedlund.
