Otto Edward Holt was born in Mönsterås, Kalmar Län, Sweden, July 9, 1840 and died at his home here March 12, 1912 aged 71 years, 8 months and 3 days.

At the age of twenty-five in 1865 he migrated to this country and located in Henry County, Illinois, where he remained two years. In 1867 he moved to Hamilton County, Iowa, where he has since resided. On April 22, 1872 he was united in marriage to Christina Sudderberg, who with two sons and one daughter, are left to mourn his death. The sons are Andy and Ed, who are prominent farmers near here and the daughter is Mrs. Emil Anderson, who is also a resident near Stratford.

Until a few years ago deceased lived on his farm about six miles south of Stratford. He was one of the earlier members of the South Marion M. E. Church, joining that congregation in 1876, and has ever since been one of their best members. He was a valued citizen of Stratford, one who was always even tempered and kind and beloved by all alike.

The funeral over the remains was held from the home here Friday at 12 p.m. and from the South Marion Church at 2 p.m. and the interment was made in the South Marion Cemetery. Rev. H.A. Peterson officiated.
