Eric Hansson was born Feb. 24, 1815 in Ovansjö, Gävleborg, Sweden. He married Anna Ersdotter in 1843 and they had five children born in Sweden: Anna, Eric (George), Brita, Hans and Pehr. The famiy moved from Ovansjö parish in 1849 to Högbo parish. From there they emigrated to America in 1855.
