Elva Day, 86, Urbandale and a former Webster City resident, died March 21, 1996 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home in Webster City with Dr. Charles Smith officiating. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.

Elva Violet Rothrock, daughter of Willis and Jane Hamilton Rothrock, was born Oct. 22, 1909 on a farm near Blairsburg. She was educated in Blairsburg and Webster City. On July 5, 1927 she married Willard Edgar Day in Owatonna, Minn, where they farmed. They returned to Webster City in 1938. She had been employed at Hahne Printing, as a cook for the Webster City schools and as a cook for the Shady Oaks Restaurant.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and Robert Philbrook, Kamrar, Donna Day, Shirley Ellison and Sandra and Gary Van Winkle, all of Des Moines, Doris and Joe Bonstetter, Fort Worth, Texas; son, Robert Day, Webster City; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Arlene Davis; children in infancy, Iona and Willard; a grandson; her parents; brother Clifford Rothrock; and sisters, Edna Fisher and Vera Kepler.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose, American Legion Auxiliary and Purity Rebekah Lodge No. 72 of Webster City.
