Mrs. Anna Gustafson

Anna Gustafson, born Johnson, was born in Sweden, December 3, 1863. She came with her parents to America at the age of three years, living in Rock Island and Moline, Ills., until the year 1871, when the family moved to Iowa and to this vicinity, onto the farm, which has been the family home ever since. Here she spent most of her childhood and grew to womanhood. She was married to Emil Joseph Gustafson on December 5, 1884. To this union one child Arthur, was born, who is left to mourn a kind and loving mother.

After two years, of happy wedded life, her husband was called to his reward, August 26, 1886, and she was called to face the sorrow of widowhood and with her small son of eleven months, to face life's struggle alone.

She passed away at the state hospital in Cherokee on Saturday, June 5, 1926, at 11 o'clock p.m., at the age of 63 years, 6 months, 2 days. The tired spirit had taken wing and had left for that happy home where there is neither sorrow, pain or death.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her son, Arthur, two sisters, Ella and Tilda Johnson and two brothers, Chas. and Fred Johnson, all of them residing in the East Marion community. She also leaves other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Gustafson was a sincere Christian woman and through all of her darkest hours God had revealed his love to her and she had trusted Him and exemplified His life in loving thoughts and deeds.

The remains were brought to the farm home and funeral services were held Tuesday of last week at 3 o'clock in the afternoon and were conducted by G.H. Dick.

Interment was made in the South Marion Cemetery. The pallbearers were Frank and John Erickson, Charley Berggren, Albert Jacobson, Theodore Carlson and Anton Sealine.

Ere we reach the shining river,
Lay we every burden down,
And our graves shall deliver,
A shining robe and crown.

Card of Thanks
