Obituary

Felleson

Mrs. Brita Felleson died at her home in Stratford Saturday, Dec. 9, at 5 o'clock p.m. at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 27 days.

Deceased was born April 12, 1828, in Vestra Torsas [Västra Torsås], Sweden. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of Sweden. In 1854, she arrived in America and at first made her home in Moline, Ill. She was married to Carl Felleson in 1854 and to this union ten children were born, six of them having gone before. In 1870, she with her husband and children came to Stratford and the same year joined the Lutheran church here and was always a good and faithful member of the church. She leaves her aged husband, four children, one son-in-law, 2 grandchildren and a host of friends.

The funeral was held Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Lutheran church and the remains interred in the Olson cemetery.

Gravestone is engraved with a death year of 1906. The book "Our Ancestors" by Wayne Hokenson, copyright 1981, contains a copy of a letter written by Carl Felleson on 20 Dec 1905 and published in "Augustana" magazine dated 28 Dec 1905. He writes that she lived 77 years, 7 months and 27 days, was born 12 Apr 1828 and died 9 Dec at 5 p.m.
