C.J.E. Carlson Dead at 81

C.J.E. Carlson, 81, longtime resident of the Stanhope and Stratford communities, died at 7:30 this morning at the Hamilton County Hospital where he had been a patient since August 30. He had been in poor health the past several years.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Stanhope Christian Church preceded by a brief service at 1:15 at the Foster Funeral Home in this city. The Rev. C.F. Schmidt of Stanhope will officiate with burial being in South Marion Cemetery.

Mr. Carlson is survived by two sons and three daughters: Archie Carlson of Stanhope, Ferman Carlson of Stanhope, Mrs. Rufus (Marie) Rexroat of Stratford, Mrs. Phil (Pearl) Nelson of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Carl (Estelle) Rinehart of Stratford.

Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, a brother, Theodore Carlson of Webster City, and three sisters, Mrs. Will (Erma) Williams of Vinton, Mrs. Godfrey (Tillie) Lundquist of Boone and Mrs. Wallace (Clara) Anderson of Stratford.

HIGHLY RESPECTED RESIDENTS SUMMONED FROM OUR MIDST

C.J.E. Carlson

C.J.E. Carlson, age 81, a longtime resident of Stratford, died in the county hospital at Webster City Saturday morning, Sept. 4. He had been a patient there since Aug. 30 and had been in poor health for the past several years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Christian church at Stanhope. The Rev. C.F. Schmidt of Stanhope officiated at the services. Interment was made in the South Marion Cemetery.

Mr. Carlson is survived by two sons and three daughters, 15 grandchildren, one brother, and three sisters.
