Carl Oskar Carlson was born in Sweden on February 17th, 1877 and passed away at Eleanor Moore hospital in Boone May 1st, 1917, at the age of 40 years, 2 months and 18 days.

He came to this country locating in this community in 1906 and has most of that time been engaged in digging the ditches. He was a hard worker and it is thought that his last illness was due in a large measure to the exposure which he endured in following his vocation. He was taken to the hospital about five weeks ago and failed gradually until his death last week.

Kind friends took charge of the body and on Saturday the remains were laid to rest in the South Marion cemetery after a short service by Rev. Nels Pearson. The only relatives the deceased had in this country, so far as is known is a sister, Mrs. B.V. Samuelson, of near Butterfield, Minn.
