Brandt

Mrs. Christina Carrie Brandt, born Johnson, was born in Sweden, October 7, 1856. She came to this country with her parents in 1869 and located in Swede Bend. She was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Gust Brandt, December 17, 1881, at Boonesboro, Iowa. To this union were born eight children - five boys and three girls - of whom one girl and two boys have preceded her to the better land. The beloved mother closed her eyes in death June 7, 1909 at the age of 52 years, 7 months and 25 days. Although she was ill for a period of a little over four months, death came very suddenly and unexpectedly, and was a great shock to the family. She leaves a husband, five children, an aged father, five bothers and a host of friends to mourn her departure.

Funeral services were held at the residence Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. C.G. Bengtson and the remains interred in the South Marion cemetery. Peace be to her memory.

Daughter of Anders Jonsson and Anna Cajsa Andersdotter. Emigrated to America with her parents and brothers (Per Olof Johnson, Anders Gustaf Johnson, Lars Johan Johnson, John Erick Johnson, Otto Johnson and August Johnson), arriving on May 9, 1869 in New York City.
