Burklund

Betsy Burklund passed away unexpectedly at the home of her brother near Stanhope, Iowa, April 16, 1915, at an age of 60 years, 8 months and 11 days. She was born in Enviken parish, Kopparbergs county, the province of Dalarna, Sweden, August 5, 1854. She married John Burklund in Sweden in 1878 and immigrated to America in July, 1881.

Her husband and two children, Hannah Mary and Gust Wilhelm, preceded her in death. She is mourned by one son, Axel, one daughter, Mrs. Lena Reed and husband, one grandson, Kenneth, two brothers, John Backlund in Sweden and Daniel near Stanhope, Ia., at whose home she has lived since the death of her husband, besides many relatives and friends. May the God of comfort and strength sustain them in the day of sorrow.

The funeral services took place at her brother's home, April 18, and was marked by a large attendance. The Rev. N. Pearson of South Marion M.E. church preached the funeral sermon from the words of Paul: "The time of my departure is at hand." The interment took place in South Marion cemetery.

Mrs. John Bjorklund

On Friday, April 16, at 10 a.m. occurred the death of Mrs. John Bjorklund, which came as a great shock to the community as she was sick only twelve hours, her death being due to apoplexy. Up until this time she had been in the very best of health.

The funeral was held Sunday, April 18, at the home of Rev. Nils Person, of South Marion M.E. Church and the body was interred at the Olson cemetery.

Betsy Bocklund, daughter of John and Martha Bocklund, was born at Enviken socken, Dalarna, Sweden, August 5, 1854, and was united in marriage to John Bjorklund in the spring of 1878, living in Sweden until July 1881, when they immigrated to America. They located in Boone county where she resided until her death. She was a member of the Lutheran church while in Sweden. There were four children born to this union, Axel, Lena, Hannah and Gust. Her husband and two youngest children, Hannah and Gust, have passed away before her. Those surviving are Axel Bjorklund, of Stanhope, Mrs. Lena Reed, of Leon, Iowa, two brothers, John Bocklund, of Sweden, Dan Bocklund, of Stanhope, and one grandson, Kenneth Reed, besides a host of friends and near relatives who mourn her death. Betsy Bjorklund was loved by all who knew her, with her quiet unassuming, yet cheery disposition she was ever ready to help those in need. She has lived peaceably with all and thus she departed in peace.
