Obituary
Burklund

Hannah Mary Burklund, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burklund, was born on January 12, 1883, in Hamilton county, Iowa, and passed way on January 19, 1914 at the home of her uncle, Dan Backlund, Boone county, Iowa, at an age of 31 years and 7 days. She was united in marriage to Mr. Bert Ring of Sioux City on May 29, 1902. One year later she became an invalid and was brought home to her mother, who tenderly cared for her until death them parted.

She was of a cheerful disposition, and notwithstanding her ten years of sickness, she always tried to look on the bright side of life. Two days before she passed away she called her mother to the bedside and requested her to kneel down and pray with her, as she believed that she would receive comfort and help thereby. She leaves to mourn her a mother, one brother, Axel, one sister, Mrs. Lena Reed with husband and son at Leon, Iowa, and a large number of relatives and friends, her father and one brother having gone before her to the life beyond.

The funeral was held from the home of her uncle, January 21, at 1 o'clock p.m. the Rev. Nels Pearson of South Marion officiating. The sermon for the occasion was based upon the words in 1 Samuel 20:3, "There is but one step between me and death." The interment took place in South Marion cemetery.
