IOWA FALLS - Arild Vernon "Kep" Kepler, 77, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998 at his home in Las Vegas, NV. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Iowa Falls with inurnment at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Military honors will be provided by Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post of Iowa Falls. Linn's Funeral Home in Iowa Falls is in charge of arrangements.
Arild "Kep" Kepler was born August 22, 1921 at Stanhope to Vernon and Mable Kepler. He was raised in Stanhope and Webster City, graduating from Webster City High School with the class of 1939. He received national honors for his musical ability. He attended Webster City Junior College and the University of Iowa. He moved to California and graduated from Woodbury College, Los Angeles. He served with the Coast Guard during World War II in the Southwest Pacific at Empress Augusta Bay, Bougainville Island and the Northern Solomans, and in the North Atlantic.
He married Mary Jane Higbee of Webster City at Fresco, CA. In 1948, he and his father opened Kepler Super Value grocery in Iowa Falls and during the early 1950's, The Red Rooster Grill. After selling the businesses, he was an automobile dealer for 17 years with Scenic City Auto Sales, Iowa Falls. In 1987, he relocated to Las Vegas and was involved in the security business.
Survivors are his wife, Mary of Las Vegas, daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Dennis Richey of Las Vegas, Kathie and Tim Harrington of Las Vegas and Cindy Leitner of Iowa Falls, son David of Temple, TX and seven grandchildren.
He ws preceded in death by his parents, and one granddaughter, Jackie Richey.
