Janet O'Connor Springer, 52, Gilbert, AZ, died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998 at the Hospice of the Valley in Mesa, AZ. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Rev John J. Walsh at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Webster City. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Scripture services will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Foster Funeral Home, Webster City.
Janet Elaine O'Connor was born Feb. 26, 1946, the daughter of Marion and Elsie Mae Zeihan O'Connor. She attended local schools, graduating with the class of 1964. In 1968, she graduated from Drake University. After her schooling, she taught in Cedar Rapids, and later moved to Lubbock, TX. She married Jim Springer in 1977, and they soon moved to Mesa, AZ. She worked with All State Insurance the past ten years.
She is survived by a son, Jason; her mother and step-father, Elsie and Whitley Hemingway; a brother, Larry of Lafayette, CA., sisters Betty Elsden, Webster City, Sue Mangelsen, Estes Park, CO., Karen Bettis, Webster City, Kathy Eubanks, Evergreen, CO., Nancy Parker, Protem, MO., and friend Dean Vols; step-brother John Hemingway, Webster City; step-sisters Sue Rosenthal and Sarah Hemingway of Austin, TX., and Fran Large, Webster City; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice or to St. Thomas Aquinas School.
