FORT DODGE - Arthur E. Bailey, 81 of Fort Dodge, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge with Rev. Roger Kurtenbach of Epworth United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery in Webster City. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Arthur E. Bailey was born May 16, 1917 in Webster City. He attended schools in Webster City and later moved to Lehigh to work for Johnson Clay Works. In 1938, he married Lois Wood in Fort Dodge and later moved to Laurens where he worked in farming. In 1951, the couple moved to Duncombe where he worked for Arnold grain elevator. He later drove trucks for Pat Powers of Duncombe, and Felco Land O'Lakes at the Answer Farm for several years. He later worked for Mead Containers as a truck driver until his retirement. In 1975, they moved back to Fort Dodge.

Survivors are his sons, Ted of Granite City, IL., and Ed of Mason City; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a brother Donald of Boone; and a sister, Dorothy Eaton of Douglas, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Minnie Ferrell Bailey, his wife, daughters Wilma, Marilyn and Darlene, brother Ronald and sister Patsy.

He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge and the Teamsters Union.
