Wayne G. Toftee, 74, Webster City, died Sunday, April 9, 2000 at Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Webster City with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. at the church. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #191.

Wayne Gerald Toftee, son of Oscar and Crystal Brooks Toftee, was born Feb. 1, 1926 at Iowa City. He received his education in Iowa City. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy as an aviation motor machine mate in the Pacific Theatre of Action. On March 23, 1952, he married Ruth Schoenfisch at Fort Dodge. They moved to Webster City from Clarion in 1957. He worked for Morton Frozen Foods than Franklin's (Frigidaire) for several years. He retired in 1975 due to failing health.

Survivors are his wife Ruth, sons and daughter-in-law, David, Jim and Dale Toftee, all of Webster City; John Toftee of Fairmont, MN., Mark and Marsha Toftee of Duncombe, daughter and son-in-law Becky and Jim Wilson, Gowrie; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister Doris Frakes of Eagle Grove; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers James and Leo Toftee.

He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
