Ethel Helmers, 65, Webster City, died Monday, April 10, 2000 at her home. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Colfax Township Cemetery south of Vincent. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday until the service time.

Ethel Margaret Byson was born March 30, 1935 at Plum Creek, IA. She received her elementary education at Plum Creek and graduated from LuVerne high school in 1952. On August 27, 1953 she married Richard Helmers at Algona. The couple resided at Algona and various locations in Iowa. They moved to an acreage, southeast of Vincent in 1963 and to Webster City in 1995. She worked for five years for the City of Fort Dodge Water Department and operated a craft shop in her home in Vincent for several years.

Survivors are her husband Richard, sons and daughters-in-law, David and Judy Helmers, Webster City, Rick and Eileen Helmers, Brian and Dana Helmers, all of Fort Dodge; a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Darrell Rude of Polk City; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sisters Doris Schmidt and Betty Berner, both of Fort Dodge, brother Jim Byson of Barnum, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John and Louis Byson.
