Danny K. East, 51, Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000 at his condominium in Duluth, MN. after a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids with Rev. Gary Hess officiating. Entombment will be in the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and at the church after 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Danny East was born Jan. 17, 1949 in Jewell. He married Linda S. Peterson on March 27, 1971 in Jewell. He graduated from Ellsworth College in 1969. He worked for J.C. Penney from 1969 to 1975. He began employment with Maurice's in 1975 as a manager. In 1976, he was promoted to district manager, then regional supervisor in 1979 and most recently, was vice president of stores for Maurice's.

He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, president of the Parent's Association for Kappa Sigma at the University of Iowa, past Sunday school teacher, and was involved in church affairs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Mark's Church in his name.

Survivors are his wife Linda; a daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Michael Bowdish of Cedar Rapids; a son Bradley East, attending the University of Iowa, his parents, William and Frances East of Stanhope; a brother and sister-in-law, Daryl and Peggy East of Jefferson, two sisters and brother-in-law, Donna and Hugh Weigel of Story City; Diana East and fiance Rodney Patterson of Stanhope; mother and father-in-law, June and Leslie Peterson, sister and brother-in-law, all of Jewell, nieces and nephews.
