Ross Christenson, 18, widely known Stanhope 4-H youth, died at 3:20 a.m. Sunday at the Hamilton county hospital where he had been a patient the past 19 days. He had been in ill health since January.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist church in Stanhope, preceded by a brief service at 1:15 at the Foster funeral home. The Rev. Reed Richards will officiate with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Ross Dean Christenson, son of Walter and Wilma Christenson, was born Oct. 14, 1934 in Webster City. He was reared and educated in Stanhope, being graduated with the class of 1952. Since then he had been assisting his father on the farm seven miles northeast of Stanhope.

He is survived by his parents, one brother and two sisters: Walter J. Christenson of Stanhope, JoAnn and Kay Christenson, both of Stanhope. Also surviving is a grandmother, Mrs. Anna East of Stanhope.

He was baptized in the Methodist faith and was a member of the Methodist church in Stanhope.

Prominent in 4-H club work, he was a past president of the county 4-H organization. He was especially outstanding in livestock exhibition work, having shown the grand champion calf at the 4-H baby beef show at several Hamilton county fairs. He was also active in the Future Farmers association, and was extremely well liked by all who knew him.
