Edith Howd Halsne, 86, Webster City, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000 at the Crestview Manor Care Center Private committal services were held Monday at the Graceland Cemetery. Arrangements were made through the Foster Funeral Home.

Edith Frances Hoover, daughter of Charles and Rose Smith Hoover, was born April 4, 1913 on a farm southeast of Duncombe. She attended rural schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City in 1931. On May 28, 1931, she married Leonard Howd at Eldora. The couple resided in the Duncombe area, later moving to Webster City. For many years, she was a proofreader for Hahne Printing Company in Webster City. The couple were divorced. On July 15, 1992, she married Harold Halsne at Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City. Mr. Halsne died Nov. 21, 1994. She moved to Crestview Apartments in November, 1998 and to Crestview Manor in November, 1999.

Survivors are daughters and son-in-law, Martha and John Eige of San Jose, CA., Roseann Amundson of Jewell, sons and daughters-in-law, Elsdon and Doree Howd of Sun City West, AZ., Delmar and Faye Howd, Elizabethtown, NC., seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, first husband, Leonard Howd, Webster City.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Royal Neighbors and the Town and Country Garden Club.
