Pearl Hoshaw, 90, Stratford, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000 at the Stratford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford with Rev. Dale Schoening officiating. Burial will be in the McGuire Bend Cemetery northwest of Stratford. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Funeral Chapel in Stratford Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 9 a.m. until the service time.

Pearl Neese, daughter of Eli and Esther Olson, Neese, was born in rural Hamilton County on March 22, 1909. She married James Harvey Hoshaw at Webster City on Dec. 21, 1927. She was a homemaker and for a period of time was employed in the kitchen of the Stratford Schools and later at the Dayton Country Club in Dayton. She was a member of the McGuire Bend United Brethren Church where she was active in various ladies church organizations. She had resided at the Stratford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center since November, 1993.

Survivors are five sons and daughters-in-law, Francis and Sharon Hoshaw, Stratford, Dean and Joyce Hoshaw of San Bernadino, CA., Roger and Irene Hoshaw of Stratford, Gary and Karen Hoshaw of West Des Moines, William "Bill" Hoshaw of California; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and Jesse Silvey, Stratford, Carolyn and Larry Iles, Stratford; 24 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Stella Neese of Webster City, Kenneth and Gwen Neese, Webster City, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey in April, 1984, an infant daughter, a daughter, Shirley Clausen and two grandsons.
