John (J.C.) Olmstead, 23, Webster City, died suddenly Saturday morning, June 14, at the Hamilton County Hospital.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 17 at 11 a.m. at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. S. Willard Cunningham officiating.

The body will be taken to Illinois for a service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 18 at the First Congregational church of Rock Falls, Ill. Rev. Tom Harmon will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Knoll cemetery in Sterling, Ill. [according to Find A Grave he is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, Iowa]

John Curtis Olmstead, son of Larry J. and Janice D. Peterson Olmstead, was born Jan. 19, 1963 at Dubuque. The family moved to Forest City and then to Webster City in 1968. He attended Webster City schools and graduated in 1981. He attended Iowa Central Community College, graduating in 1986.

He is survived by parents; two brothers and two sister-in-laws, David and Sherie of US AIr Force Base, Ramstein, West Germany, Rick and Brenda of Mason City; a sister and brother-in-law, Ron and Laurie Epps of Nacogdoches, Texas; seven nieces and nephews; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Peterson, Rock Falls, Ill.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.

Mr. Olmstead was a member of the First Congregational Church in Webster City and Phi Beta Lambda Fraternity.

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to a fund which will be established as a scholarship fund to Iowa Central Community College.
