Elsie Long, 79, Webster City, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000 at the home of her daughter in Waukee. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery and visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and prior to services on Saturday.

Elsie Mae Westrum, daughter of Olaf and Christine Olsen Westrum, was born May 25, 1920 at Stratford. She graduated from Stratford High School in 1937. On Dec. 5, 1937, she married Hermon Elster Long at Lehigh. They celebrated their 50th anniversary with a trip to Hawaii. She was a cashier at Dunn's Super Valu for 20 years.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Harold Clarken of Waukee, grandchildren Kevin and Julie Clarken of Urbandale, Debra Hartman of Ankeny, Michelle and Todd Van Maanen, Yankton, SD., Annette and Ron Ihde, Cedar Falls; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Biersner of Dike, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Long in infancy, grandson, Dan Clarken, brother Glen Westrum, sister Velva Westrum.

She was a member of the Stratford Baptist Church.
