John H. Olson, 80, Webster City, a longtime postal employee, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000 at Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Revs. John Grebner and Doug Bullock-Tiffany officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by American Legion Post #191. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Friday and after 8:30 a.m. at the church Saturday.

John Hillis Olson, son of John and Karen Pearson Olson, was born August 24, 1919 at Vinton. He moved to Webster City in 1936. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City in 1938. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and flew 66 missions on a B-26 as a gunner. On Dec. 15, 1946, he married Vera Ione Hilpipre at Webster City. The couple resided at Webster City. He was employed by Naden Industries, Modern Cleaners and Graham Dairy. He worked for the Postal Service for 20 years, retiring in 1979. The couple wintered in Harlingen, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 17, 1995. He continued to reside in Webster City.

Survivors are his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Connie Olson, Carroll, Dale and Dayle Olson, Woolstock, grandchildren Nathan and Andrew Olson of Carroll, Aaron and Amy Olson of Webster City; sister Helen Keleher of Algona, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Olson, his parents and a sister, Margaret Sandeen.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #191, Disabled American Veterans and the American Postal Workers Union.
