Floyd O. Stoppelmoor, 81, Independence, MO., a former Blairsburg and Webster City resident, died Friday, Dec. 1999 at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Floyd Otto Stoppelmoor, son of William and Grace Naber Stoppelmoor, was born August 3, 1918 at Kamrar. He was raised on a farm and attended school in Blairsburg. On Oct. 1, 1938 he married Jean D. Adams of Webster City. They farmed in the Blairsburg and Webster City area until 1949 when they moved to Cameron, MO., where they operated the Windy Ridge Gas Station and Café until moving to Independence in 1954. He was employed as a steel press operator for Delta Fabricators Inc. until retiring in 1980.

Survivors are his wife, Jean, Independence, four sons, Wesley W. Stoppelmoor, Kansas City, Randy D. Stoppelmoor and Dennis Stoppelmoor, both of Blue Springs, MO., and Donald Stoppelmoor, Princeton, MO., three daughters, Karen C. Williams, Independence, Judith E. Eth, Kansas City and Connie E. Ross, Kansas City, three brothers, Laverne and Sterling Stoppelmoor, Dows, and Ernest Stoppelmoor, Iowa City; two sisters Ruby Thompson, Springfield, OR., and Viora Welsh, Blairsburg, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Bradley Dean Stoppelmoor, brother Lawrence and sister Dorothy Spitler.

Services were held Jan. 4, 2000 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Chapel. Burial was in the Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence, MO.
