Richard "Rick" Olmstead, 42, formerly of Webster City, died Saturday (Feb. 21, 1998) at Franklin General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home, Webster City, with Dr. Jeffrey Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Webster City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

Richard Cory Olmstead, son of Larry and Janice Peterson Olmstead, was born Dec. 24, 1955, at Sterling, Ill. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1974. He joined the United States Air Force serving in Korea, Georgia and Florida until his discharge in 1978.

On June 28, 1980, he married Brenda Legore in Rockwell City. He worked for Kinney Shoe Store for over 10 years, at which time the couple resided in Kansas City, Dubuque, Newton and Mason City. In 1991, they moved to Hampton where he had been a route salesman for Schwan's Foods.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda; son, Patrick Cory, and daughter, Amanda Kay, both at home; three sisters, Laurie and brother-in-law, Ron Epps, of Webster City, Patty and brother-in-law, Steve Sharkey of Lake City, and Lois and brother-in-law, David Brown, of Carroll; three brothers, David and sister-in-law, Sheri Olmstead, of Englewood, Ohio, Carl and sister-in-law, Eloisa Legore of Panama City, Panama, and Darren and sister-in-law, Deb Legore, of Rockwell City; parents, Larry and Jan Olmstead of Webster City; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Virginia Legore of Rockwell City; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by one brother, John C. Olmstead in 1986, and his grandparents on both sides.
