Doris E. Pratt, age 66, of Jewell, died Monday, March 22, 1999 of cancer at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 1999 at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell.

Doris Ellen Farris was born November 17, 1932 in Newtown, Missouri to Harvey D. and Lillian (Brackett) Farris. She attended school in Des Moines. On December 12, 1949 Doris married Charles E. Pratt in Des Moines. They have lived in the Story City and Jewell area for 31 years. Doris had worked at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Doris is survived by her husband, Chuck of Jewell; two sons, Michael Pratt of Des Moines and David Pratt of Ames; three daughters, Sharon Hobt of Des Moines, Deb Saulsbury of Jewell and Bonnie Pratt of Ogden; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Farris and Bill Farris; and a sister, Mary Sheffield, all of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Trimble and Burnadine Sheffield; and two brothers, Raymond Farris and J.R. Farris.
