Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Monday, March 29, 1999

Myrtle Myers, 102, of Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, formerly of Webster City, died on March 26, 1999 at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel on the Hill at Friendship Haven with Rev. Bill Tembly officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation is after 12:30 p.m. until the service time on Tuesday at the Chapel of the Hill. Gunderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Myrtle Beardslee was born Jan. 9, 1897 at Lowery City, MO. She was raised and educated at Lowery City. She married Alfred L. Myers in 1916 at Lowery City. The couple moved to the Webster City area in 1939 where they farmed. In 1951, they moved to a farm in the Stanhope and Stratford area. They then moved to Webster City in 1965. She was a homemaker. Mr. Myers preceded her in death in 1979.

Survivors are her daughter, Mary Shipman of Mason City; six grandchildren, Marianne White of Mason City, Linda Malloy of Jacksonville, FL., Douglas Shipman of Hattiesburg, MS., Lisa Parrish of Altoona, Beth Arnold of Kamrar and Susan Bromm of Webster City. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Pauline Breitenkamp, and her husband.

Memorials may be directed to Friendship Haven.
