Johnie Hanson, 75, Duncombe, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge, following a lengthy illness. Services will be held Thursday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge with Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, with military graveside rites by Duncombe American Legion Post #491. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Johnie K. Hanson was born Feb. 6, 1924 in Duncombe. He attended school in Duncombe. Following his education he farmed with his father near Duncombe. In 1942, he served in the US Army infantry, serving in the Pacific Theater. Following the war, he returned to Duncombe. In 1950, he married Mary Pauline McGuire in Fort Dodge. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge where he worked for Gildemeister Lincoln Mercury dealership as a mechanic for many years. The couple moved to Duncombe in 1952. He later established Hanson Garage in Duncombe which he owned and operated until 1978. He then became employed by Webster County road maintenance until retiring. In 1986, he married Marilyn Zabel Smith in Fort Dodge and the couple made their home in Duncombe.

Survivors are his wife Marilyn, daughters Marlene Hanson, Duncombe, sons Johnie Hanson of Decatur, IL., Kenneth and Roger Hanson, both of Duncombe, step daughters Teresa Carter and Rhonda Ferry, both of Fort Dodge, stepson Tony Smith, Fort Dodge; six grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Margaret Koestner Hanson, first wife Mary Pauline and sisters Naomi and Joan.
