Helen Mae Passwaters, 83, Tucson, AZ., died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999 following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City with Rev. Mike Morgan and Cindi O'Brien officiating. A private burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Foster Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Mae Longstaff, daughter of Robert and Jenny Longstaff, was born January 1, 1916 in Lehigh. She graduated from Lehigh High School in 1934 and the AIB School of Business in Des Moines in 1936. She married Donald Passwaters at the Little Brown Church at Nashua and the couple resided in Webster City for many years. She was employed with many area firms including the Daily Freeman Journal, the Farmer's Co-op, J.C. Penney's, Osweiler's and Walt Raven Realty before opening and operating her own real estate business, Passwaters Real Estate for 11 years. Her husband was the line superintendent for the city of Webster City for 43 years. She retired in 1985 and moved to Arizona to be closer to her daughter.

She was a long time member of Asbury United Methodist Church and an active volunteer in the community, serving on the Lawn Hill PTA, Lionelles, Hamilton County Republican Party, Hamilton County Board of Realtors, the Webster City Country Club and many others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald and her parents. Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Rick Van Langen, Tucson, AZ., two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Brigitte Passwaters, Palm Harbor, FL., and Chuck and Pam Passwaters of Crystal Lake, IL., brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Mavia Longstaff of Creston; four grandchildren, Ryan and Wendee Van Langen of Tucson, AZ., Shane and Lindsey Passwaters, Crystal Lake, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations be made in her name to the Hospice Family Care, Inc., 1550 S. Alma School Road, Mesa, AZ 85210.
