Nina Spitler, 83, Webster City, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999 at her home. Mrs. Spitler donated her body to the Des Moines College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Nina Doris Howard, daughter of Freedom and Ruth Summers Howard, was born Feb. 6, 1916 at Jefferson. She received her education in the Jefferson school system. On May 27, 1959 she married Harry Edmond Spitler at Albert Lea, MN. The couple resided in Webster City. She had been employed at the Willson Hotel and for several years at McMurray Hatchery. She retired in 1987. Mr. Spitler died Feb. 28, 1989. She continued to reside in Webster City.

Survivors are a daughter, Shelly Bergeson of Charles City, grandchildren, Randy LoVette, Jack Thompson, Amber and Chris Bergeson, three great-grandchildren, a sister Clarice Gatewood of Webster City, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Claudette June Thompson, her parents, a brother Claude Howard, half-brothers Ed, Amos and Elmer Kaufman and a half-sister Viola Mae Elliot.

She was a member of the Church of Christ at Jefferson.
