Bernadine Greufe, Iowa Falls, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the St. Marks Catholic Church in Iowa Falls, with burial in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Williams. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls, with a 7 p.m. scripture service.

Bernadine C. Greufe, daughter of John and Josephine Putthoff Kalwel, was born Jan. 15, 1912 in Montrose, MO. She attended school at Montrose. She married Andrew L. Greufe on Oct. 4, 1938. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Iowa and farmed in the Ellsworth, Eldora and Alden areas until moving to Alden in 1948. Following her husband's death, she moved to Ellsworth in 1990. She was a former member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams and a former member of St. Mary's Guild.

Survivors are two sons, Willard Greufe of Chardon, OH., and Keith Greufe of Marshalltown, five daughters Leila Nelson, Anchorage, AK., Elaine Johnson of West Des Moines, Eileen Hamn of Versailles, KY., Lavonne Rush of Dixon, IL., and Sharon Shriver of Anamoose, ND.; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, four sisters Margarge Greufe of Milo, Theresa Cook of St. Louis, MO., Regina Cook of Sedalia, MO., and Josephine Cook of Independence, MO.; two brothers Ben Kalwel of Montrose, MO., and John Kalwel of Clinton, MO.
