Martha M. Tarpenning, 89, Arvada, CO., a former Webster City resident, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999 at the Lutheran Medical Center in Wheatridge, CO. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Webster City with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Due to transportation problems, there will be no visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from Tuesday. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church until the time of the service. [not exactly sure what they meant to say]

Martha Minnie Miller, daughter of Edward and Minnie Meyer Miller, was born Jan. 26, 1910 at Jackson, MN. She attended school in Jackson. She moved to Webster City in 1928. On Sept. 16, 1929 she married James William Tarpenning at Thurman. The couple resided in Webster City. She was employed by Monarch, Selby Produce, Fairmont Foods, Morton Frozen Foods, Continental Bakery, Middleton Produce and retired from Beam Industries in 1969. Mr. Tarpenning died Jan. 25, 1985. She moved to Colorado in the fall of 1997.

Survivors are a brother, Milton Miller of Arvada, CO., nieces Connie Miller of Arvada, Mary Ann Chiluck of Cornelius, NC., Jean Laursen of Peterson, IA., Janice Schmidt, Jesup, nephews Milton and Danny Miller, both of Arvada, CO.; seven great-nieces, five great-nephews, two great-great-nieces and a great-great-nephew.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Irene Adair.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, RSVP of Webster City, VFW Auxiliary Post #817, and the Webster City Senior Citizens Club.
