Betty Gregory, 73, Webster City, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999 at Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services were held at Asbury United Methodist Church on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery. Foster Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Louise Black, daughter of Glen and Ethel Harris Black, was born March 25, 1926 at Webster City. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City in 1944. She started employment as a bookkeeper with Montgomery Ward, then J.C. Penney. On January 26, 1946, she married Francis D. Gregory at Fort Dodge. The couple resided in Webster City. She was employed as deputy recorder for Hamilton County, at Crosley and Foster Insurance, and most owned Betty Gregory Insurance Agency. Most recently, she had worked at the Webster City Medical Clinic. She retired in 1993. Mr. Gregory died on Dec. 28, 1998.

Survivors are daughters and sons-in-law, Trish and James Palmer of Cedar Rapids, Janet and Rick Burgart of New Hampton, DeAnne and David Raven of St. Paul, MN., Cindy and Morrie Norman of Clive; seven grandchildren, sisters, Dora Thompson of Olathe, KS., Joan Shafer of Tavares, FL., Peggy Egner of Pensacola, FL., Ruth Black of San Bernardino, CA., brother, Bill Black, Rancho Cucamonga, CA., several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Rae Gregory, her parents, brothers, Russell, Bobby and James Black; sisters, Nellie, Evelyn and Bonnie Black, Mary and Margaret Brownfield.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, a former president of the Ladies of the Moose, Webster City Country Club, Webster City Planning and Zoning Commission, Webster City Cable Commission and CSP.
