Robert M. Bishop, 75, Jewell, died Saturday, July 31, 1999 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City with Rev. Durwood Clauson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada. The body will be cremated following the service.

He was born Nov. 1, 1923 in Radcliffe, the son of Emmett and Theresa Bishop. The family moved to Shipley when he was 1. He graduated from Shipley Consolidated School and attended Iowa State University. On Sept. 11, 1943, he married LaDena Sloniger in Story City. They lived in Mississippi and Texas during his stay in the Army Air Corps. After which they lived in the Shipley community and farmed. They left Nevada in 1972 and moved to Story City for four years. They moved to their present home in Jewell in 1976. He was a full partner in Bishop Implement in Webster City. He was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church, Nevada Masonic Lodge, Nevada Eastern Star, Story City American Legion and the Moose Lodge.

Survivors are his wife, LaDena, Jewell, two daughters, Marlu Bishop of New York City and Cora Lee Collis of Ankeny; two grandchildren, Robyn and Michael Collis, one great-grandchild; three sisters, Lorine Knutson, Radcliffe, Mary Cochran, Hopkins, MO., and Barbara Stahl, Folsum, CA.; two brothers, Russell Bishop of Webster City and George Bishop of Stewartsville, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a daughter, Robin, and two grandsons, Daron Frank and Robert Dean Collis.
